"Hospice care at Ty Bryngwyn"

About: Ty Bryngwyn Mawr / Palliative Medicine

(as a relative),

My husband was diagnosed with cancer back in December 2024 and after a short battle he was told that his illness was too advanced to be treatable and hospice care was advised. He was taken into Ty Bryngwyn the following day. His condition deteriorated throughout the day and he died that afternoon, just 3 weeks after his diagnosis.

In the six hours that he was in the care of the hospice staff, his treatment was second to none. The wonderful nurses and doctors treated him with dignity and respect.

My sister and I were with him for his final hours and the staff there put our needs at the forefront of their care as well. We weren't an afterthought or a bother. I cannot praise them highly enough. They are a team with so much compassion, empathy and support.

I am sad that Simon was unable to be transferred there sooner, and that he never got to experience it in a lucid state. His room within the hospital was dark and gloomy but the room in the hospice was light and airy, and looked out onto its private grounds, with gardens and trees. It had plenty of space in the room with a separate seating area and a sofa bed for guests if need be. It was a far cry from the depressing hospital room that he spent his final three weeks in.

While I don't wish the need for hospice care on anyone, I cannot recommend Ty Bryngwyn enough. 💔
