I can't thank the team at Heath Lodge Clinic enough for the incredible care and support they provided during my recent full-body MRI scan.
As someone who struggles with confined spaces, I was very nervous going in — but from the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at ease.
The clinic is run by Dr (this NHS review wont let my write the doctors name so please look on their website who founded the business), a caring and gentle man, and an expert in his field. He founded the clinic many years ago and, given that no one really wants to go into an MRI machine, he has ended up specialising in patients with claustrophobia. He truly cares, and asked if I would share my experience — not for economic gain, as he explained he is always reinvesting in new MRI machine technology looking for ever bigger machines and has a number of wide-bore machines for his patients — but to help others who may need an MRI, especially one as long as mine, which was a full-body scan lasting 90 minutes.
However, the time flew by as there were lots of changes in position, and the team had me in and out of the machine literally every five minutes.
Beforehand, the team took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions patiently, and made sure I never felt rushed. What stood out most was how kind, calm, and understanding everyone was. They offered thoughtful touches like playing relaxing music, a TV screen at the end of the machine and constantly checked in with me throughout the procedure to make sure I was okay. (They can talk to you the whole time through a mic and speaker, and there’s a button you can press that slides you straight out.) The machine is open at both ends, so you can go in and out from either side — which made me feel much more relaxed.
Thank you for your compassion and professionalism. What I expected to be a really difficult experience turned out to be completely manageable.
If you’re anxious or claustrophobic about having an MRI, I genuinely can’t recommend the whole team enough. They truly get it — and they truly care.
