"They do a tough job with such care and kindness"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Lothian Birth Centre

(as the patient),

I recently gave birth at the the Lothian Birth Centre and can’t speak highly enough of the experience we had. From the moment I stepped through the doors, the level of care we received from the whole team was incredible.

There were many times I thought I wasn’t able to do it and they coached and helped me through. I had difficulties in breastfeeding and everyone was so keen to help us with this so that we could get home and feel confident in doing so. We were checked on regularly, supported and never made to feel like we were taking up too much time.

I can’t thank the team enough, they do a tough job with such care and kindness, they are all incredible.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of your baby. I am the programme manager with responsibility for ensuring delivery of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Accreditation within maternity services. It is wonderful to hear the training and support the Maternal and Infant Nutrition service provides to staff working within the birth centre has ensured you felt supported as you fed your baby. I will ensure your feedback is shared with both the Maternal and Infant Nutrition service and the staff within the birth centre.
