"Very disappointing "

About: Meanwood Health Centre

I am deafblind so I have a guide dog and wear hearing aids. I currently have private hearing aids however I cannot afford to replace them anymore. I went to get my nhs aids fitted today and left feeling very disappointed. I was fitted with the aids and told they are rechargeable and should last 16 hours. I asked if there’s any scope for replaceable batteries as I am severely deaf and wear them from the moment I wake up to when I go to bed so 16 hours may not be enough. The audiologist said ‘no but I’m sure you’ll be fine.’ which felt very dismissive. She then gave me the user manual and charger and pretty much sent me off. I had to ask if they were Bluetooth and if there was any way to change the volume on them. You’d think that being there with my guide dog is a pretty clear indication that I might not be able to read the booklets however there was no explanation or demonstration to help me. The lack of care and empathy was astounding.
