"Poor experience of mental health services"

About: New Craigs Hospital

(as the patient),

Been suicidal and depressed due to being on CTO and forced medication since 2021 and had few episodes phoned NHS 24 for help they were good untill it gets to new Craig's assessment over the phone they are no help they have no understanding how to help me as a autistic and learning disability person also been assessed face to face at the hospital and it's the same spill out out my thoughts and feelings and it just a tick box no help just told to call NHS 24 and sent home still feeling suicidal and depressed were is the help for disabled people there is none there no disability assessment team just mainstream that have no training in dealing with disabled people I'm stuck on a CTO and forced medication fobbed of with a diagnosis of schizoaffective and stuck under mainstream psychiatristic doctor leaving me suicidal and depressed I have no rights to a learning disability psychiatrist which I fell is better trained to help me .

I want to be discharged from mental health services as I'm being neglected and ignored diagnosed wrongly with schizoaffective and wrongly medicated  I will not be complying with CTO and medication treatment or seeing mainstream psychiatrist  I feel that I am being psychologically ill treated by a NHS highland mental health system

Dearaugustmf44

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are deeply sorry to hear about the distress you have been facing, and we recognise how difficult and frustrating this must be for you.

We understand that you feel unheard and we regret that your experience with our services has not met your needs. We want you to know that your concerns are important, and we take them seriously.

Your feedback highlights the need for improved support for individuals with autism and learning disabilities within mental health services.

We recognise that everyone deserves care tailored to their specific needs, and we are committed to improving our approach. If you would like to discuss your concerns further or explore potential avenues for support, please consider reaching out to us directly at nhshighland.feedback@nhs.scot

Alternatively Spirit Advocacy provides independent collective advocacy for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities. They aim to improve rights, services, and treatment while challenging stigma and discrimination and can be contacted at hug@spiritadvocacy.org.uk
