"Two hip replacements"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as a service user),

I had two hip operations

First one July 2024

Second one February 2025

My surgeon was Mr Rehman

Both operations were performed brilliantly 👏

My after care was excellent, I went for my final visit today and my surgeon spoke to me and he said the operations went well.

My 1st operations I was only in Hospital one night.

My second one I was in on the Friday but not allowed home until the Sunday. My blood pressure was high and I was on oxygen.

My care from both operations was excellent. I was well looked after & monitored 24 hours.

I am now walking without crutches or walking sticks.

I managed to walk to my nearest bus stop ,which included steep steps.

My husband and friend assisted me a few times but most of the time I was unaided. My operations were performed in a new Orthopaedic Centre at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy Fife Scotland.

I suffered for a few years my legs were twisted and would seize up  making it very difficult to move.

I spent most of the time in my bedroom.

My NHS operations were a godsend.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback, regarding your recent experiences at the National Treatment Centre. All patient feedback is greatly appreciated, as we are always aiming to improve the service provided and feedback from patients allows our team to ensure patients are at the heart of every decision made.

We hope as a team to provide high quality, person centred care, that meets the individual needs of every patient. Therefore, it is rewarding to know that you felt the care provided was excellent and you felt well looked after.

It is heart warming to read that the operations have been successful and you have regained independence due to this.

I will inform Mr Rehman and the NTC team for you kind words and I am sure they will be delighted with these comments and your progress.

Wishing you all the best with your future recovery.

Take care,

Briony Klos
