"Restoring Hope and Life"

About: CAMHS (Outpatient Services) / CAMHS Outpatient Team (Perth & Kinross)

(as a parent/guardian),

Our world shattered. After terrible events and profound tragedy, my vibrant, cheerful daughter was consumed by depression. She withdrew from life, terrified of even stepping into the garden or public spaces.

Despite every effort from family and friends, her self-harm and suicidal feelings persisted. We were losing her.

Upon referral to Perth CAMHS, my daughter was at rock bottom, avoiding eye contact, unable to trust or speak. But the moment we entered the building, every staff member radiated professionalism, respect, dignity, and empathy.

The CAMHS process was seamless. My daughter began weekly appointments with Clinical Psychologist Amy. Slowly, week by week, positive changes emerged. My daughter started to open up to Amy, sharing her past traumas, her fears, and her life with an honesty born of trust.

The change was profound: self-harming stopped, and suicidal thoughts vanished.

Today, my daughter is thriving. She's back at school, achieving top grades, enjoying trips to shops, and fully living again. Her future is bright and full of positive plans. She has rediscovered her love for life.

The impact on our family has been nothing short of fantastic.

My deepest thanks go to Amy and the incredible team at Perth CAMHS for their truly remarkable work and dedication.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and such a heart felt reflection of how mental illness affected your daughter and the impact it had not only her but your family as you grappled with the effects.

We are grateful that you shared your positive feedback around the contact with the Perth CAMHS team had on the journey to recovery and I have shared this with Amy and the team.

I wish your daughter every success with her exams and her future.
