"The staff were on top of everything!"

About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Respiratory Medicine

(as a service user),

I had to attend the overnight sleep clinic at Gartnavel Hospital.

When I arrived, it was 9pm & no reception staff available for directions, I eventually found the Porters office & was soon on my way.

On arrival, another patient & myself sat patiently waiting as we hadn't noticed the buzzer.

Once inside all the staff were amazing, so very friendly.

I had some reservations about attending, as I have a Physical disability & require a little help.

I'd contacted the centre previously to enquire about an over head handle & help from staff. I was advised there was no nursing staff & no hoist which concerned me.

I needn't have worried, the staff were on top of everything! From helping me into bed & even taking care of potential pressure sores! Even turning in bed, I was told just to buzz & someone would assist me.

What I anticipated to be a stressful night, actually turned into a very relaxing experience, despite being hooked up to monitors literally from head-to-toe.

There was clear communication all the way through, even seeing the Dr. first thing in the morning for a quick de-brief from the previous night.

I've been in various hospitals over the years & I have to say, this was one of the best experiences.
