"Listens carefully to concerns and acts promptly"

About: General practices in Fife Victoria Hospital / Radiology

(as a parent/guardian),

Our 11 year old daughter recently visited our local GP practice, Oakley Health Centre, as we discovered a lump on her neck. She was seen by, I believe, Dr Waugh who reassured us it was unlikely to be anything of concern but he referred her for an ultrasound to be sure. She received an appointment promptly in the following few weeks and the lump was scanned at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. The sonographer was reassured that there were no suspicious features but advised full results would be communicated to the GP practice. We were contacted soon after the appointment to confirm that the results were very reassuring and encouraging us to seek further review in 3 months if the lump was still present. From booking the initial appointment, the care from the GP and ultrasound department and reporting of the results, we had an incredibly positive experience. Thanks to all staff involved from a very reassured mum and dad (and daughter!).

I'd like to add, we had a positive experience with Dr Waugh and a medical student last year also when our older daughter was having kidney issues. It is very reassuring to have a GP in our local practice who listens carefully to concerns and acts promptly. Anxiety levels can be high when your children are unwell but he has put us at ease and provided a excellent level of care.
