"The excellent service we received"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Medical Initial Assessment

(as a relative),

My wife was attending ward 101 in ARI hospital to investigate a swollen leg and possible blood clot. This was confirmed and the Nurse Practitioner Rachel who was seeing her was exceptionally kind, thorough and professional. My wife has vascular dementia and struggles to comprehend day to day activities but Rachel  was patient, caring and explained everything that her prognosis involved.

The course of treatment we agreed on involved meds which we would get from the pharmacy on site; however, the pharmacy said the prescription would take 30 mins to process so Rachel told me to go and get the car and bring it to the entrance to A & E; meanwhile she stayed with my wife and got her a cup of tea.

When I arrived at A&E Rachel appeared with my wife and put her in the car then went back to the pharmacy to get her meds.

Tremendous service and well over and above what she needed to do - a great example of the wonderful people employed and how good nursing care in NHS can be 👏 👏

Thank you so much

Dear Philee,

Many thanks for taking the time to write in about your experience at 101 at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and your kind words. I will ensure your feedback is shared with Rachel and her team; and know how much it will mean to them.

I hope you and your wife are doing well.

Once again, thank you!
