"Kind and Caring Staff "

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Day Surgery Unit

I had an awful experience with AnE and Gynaecology until confirmed what was wrong and what needed doing. When I arrived at DSU I waited for hours (7:30am-16:20pm) until my surgery. I understood there was emergencies but staff were amazing at reassuring me and helping with my pain. Two staff in particular were amazing at ringing surgeons to try push what time my surgery would be and the kind female nurse made sure I was hydrated using the sip and send method. Afterwards a Male nurse was amazing at making sure I was feeling okay, helping reassure me with my canular and getting it out as quick as he could as he could tell I didn’t like it. A lovely student nurse made me a brew and gave me food, making sure it was exactly as I liked, it was lovely.

As much as I had an awful few days the way the DSU staff treated me has really helped my experience. Th actual staff that did my surgery were also amazing especially the anaesthetist who was so reassuring and kind.

Thank you for such a kind experience and making me feel a lot less scared.
