"Security assistance - an absolute credit"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I wanted to commend Steven who was at the main door security desk at Glasgow Royal Infirmary Central Building today.  I arrived for an appointment around nervous, flustered and absolutely lost after a long struggle to get parking! I was already stressed about the appointment and on the verge of tears knowing I was about to be late for it.  I have waited so long for this appointment and it would have crushed me to have missed it.  Steven noticed I needed help, walked with me to take me where I needed to be, talked me through where we were going all the way and went above and beyond to put me completely at ease.  If it weren't for him I wouldn't have made my appointment in time, and I can't overstate just how much that moment of kindness meant to me.  Steven is an absolute credit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and I owe him a huge thank you for all of his help today.

Dear bravopc77

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of attending the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. We’re truly heartened to hear how Steven, a member of our security team, was able to support you during what was clearly a very stressful moment.

Navigating a large hospital can be daunting, particularly when you're already feeling anxious about an important appointment. It's wonderful to hear that Steven recognised this and went out of his way to help – walking with you, offering reassurance, and ensuring you arrived on time. Stories like yours highlight the vital role all our staff play, not only in keeping our sites safe but in offering compassion and support when it's needed most.

We will make sure your kind words are shared with Steven and his managers. He is indeed a credit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and we’re proud to have him as part of our team.

Wishing you all the best in your ongoing care.

Kind regards

Kevin
