I wish to wish my thanks to Lucinda from the Occupational Health Dept, West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance.
Over five years ago I suffered from mis/undiagnosed Cauda Equina Syndrome. My GP was not willing to listen and it took 10 to 12 weeks before I had treatment, after I paid for an MRI. This left me with an on-going disability. I have felt I have had to self support for most of the last 5 years.
I have been paying for 'foot up' devices during that time, because my GP has not made me aware I could get support from the NHS. I suffer from chronic pain, partly owing to my bad gait.
I was eventually referred to Lucinda at West Cornwall Hospital. She recommended a Step-On AFO brace device. After a short wait for the correct size to come into stock, she fitted this for me.
It has been a game changer. My walking gait has been almost immediately improved, and the secondary pain I suffer from has reduced significantly. I will be left with the neuropathic pain, however the reduction of other pain has made my life better.
"It has been a game changer"
