"I'm getting my life back!"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Community Stroke Team – South Notts

(as the patient),

My Stroke left me without my independence. I was falling a lot, which with the support of the Community Stroke Team, it came down to a faulty pacemaker.

Gavin the Physiotherapist was patient, kind and firm with giving me balance and strength exercises that Julie continued to support me with.

After my pacemaker was replaced, I improved so much with my confidence with walking outdoors after lots of balance exercises which Julie loved naming to make it more interesting.

I am now back to catching the bus into Nottingham, helped by Social Prescribing, which was a goal. Asked on a first visit, I rated myself a 3 out of 10. Now it's 7 out of 10 and I feel confident I can go further. Thank you Gavin and Julie.

P.s I'm getting my life back!

Dear guidefg66,

Thankyou very much for taking the time to tell us about your experience with the Community Stroke Team. It is good to hear about the support you had to help you recover from your stroke and enabling you to start to regard your confidence and independence.

I will ensure that the team receive your feedback which I know they will be very happy to hear, specifically Gavin and Julie whom you have mentioned.

We wish you a continued recovery and all the best for the future.

Thank you so much.

Claire Lee

Community Stroke Team Lead
