"My treatment has been very good"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

My treatment here in Radiotherapy has been very good. Staff are all brilliant, very friendly and understanding - I cannot fault them.

Car parking here is a huge problem and can be very stressful. We can park at the Maggi Centre if necessary if we can get a space there. I think people park here and then get a bus into town - much cheaper than parking in town. Maybe parking passes should be issued to folk attending clinics? This might discourage illegal parking.

My big problem is the drinking of the water - I find this very difficult and get anxious about it, but I know it has to be done as part of the treatment.

One good thing that happened is at the beginning of treatment I was told at the Maggi Centre what the side effects might be and this was very useful to know.

Also the reception staff call you by your name and sometimes walk with you to the treatment rooms, which is very nice.

Dear Harvey1,

My name is Jenna-one of the therapeutic radiographers in the radiotherapy team. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback, we really appreciate it.

Thank you for your lovely comment about how you found the staff, I will ensure that these are passed on and we're glad you were made to feel welcome and called by your name.

The car park can be very difficult and stressful and we fully appreciate the impact this can have when coming into the hospital each day, we do apologise and will take these comments to further meetings that the Head of Radiotherapy services attends.

I'm sorry to hear about the anxiety you experienced regarding the water drinking, I hope the staff were able to put your mind at ease a little when you were in the department. If you had any suggestions at all about how we could make things like this abit easier to manage we would welcome these.

That's great that you found the sessions at Maggie's centre to be useful and provided you with information that helped you through your treatments.

On behalf of the team, we wish you well.

Take care, Jenna
