I attended the emergency department at Causeway hospital Coleraine with an injury to my left foot. Very quickly I was through triage and placed in the green zone. After a short wait Dr Maguire examined me and sent me straight to x ray. On checking the x rays he noted that no bones were broken however he suspected I had sustained a rare injury, a Lisfranc fracture/ dislocation and arranged a CT scan which confirmed this. He then referred me to Altnagelvin orthopaedic dept who contacted me later that evening to arrange a follow up appointment the following week. Dr Maguire also contacted me the following morning to check on my condition and confirm that Altnagelvin had been in touch.
Having been admitted to the hospital at approximately 8.45am and being home by 4.30pm i cannot fault the level of care and attention i received from all the staff including Stephanie on reception in the green zone to the radiographers who carried out the x rays and ct scan, also the nurses who put my cast on and the pharmacist who shown me how to inject myself with Inhixa. However i would like to especially thank Dr Maguire for taking the time to check for this specific injury and the level of care he offered during my short visit to Causeway ED.
