In mid May I attended FVRH with a suspected broken wrist. After a nurse looked my wrist I was sent for XRay. It was established that my wrist was indeed broken. To save me waiting the 5 hours in A&E I was asked to go to Stirling Minor Injuries Clinic. On arrival at the clinic in Stirling I was asked by a Nurse why I was there. I replied that I had been sent through with an appointment from FVRH. They then asked me why they had sent me to Stirling. I told them that I was told Stirling would be able to put a cast for me. After they viewed the xrays, she stated that there was no need for a cast, that the injury would heal itself. They didn't know what all the fuss was about they said.
On the following day I received a phone call from FVRH to say that the doctor had reviewed my xrays, and wanted me to come in to hospital to look at my wrist herself. Upon examination the Dr confirmed that my wrist was indeed fractured in 4 places and would need to be reset and put into a cast. I have to attend a review to confirm if my wrist needs surgery.
I would like to express my disappointment with the nurse in Stirling for the way they treated the whole episode.I would however like to give a special mention to the nursing staff who treated me at FVRH who were exceptional in their treatment, advice and care.
