My father in law was admitted to this terrible place, he had stomach cancer plus other things and did not have long, he was admitted to a ward and then moved two days later to kewstoke ward, we were not told this and had to go looking for him, they put him on too much morphine and he fell out of bed, they did not see his bed sore and argued with us that he did not have one, he had thrush in his mouth which was untreated for three days, there were loose tablets left out on his table, we were actually told to leave one day as we arrived late and security was called (much to their surprise). Both my husband and I caught the Norovirus whilst we visited this dying man which made it even more difficult to visit him. There was one particular nurse that took a dislike to either us or him and treated him badly, for instance she came over to give him his medicines - injection and morphine, she just jabbed the needle in his arm without even speaking to him, his reaction - he jumped as he was semi conscious and did not know it was happening, the morphine she tried to make him drink and it spilled all down his chin, my husband quickly got a tissue to mop it up whilst she looked on and then walked away. All of this was logged and reported to the sister in charge, who made the excuse that we were both traumatised and felt angry - but we know what we saw was wrong and uncaring, and nothing was done about it, please don't let this happen to you're relative, it is difficult to live with as the memories of this terrible time will not go away. We are both extremely disappointed and angry at the way we were both treated, and to think that mother in law gave up her time to play guinea pig for this hospital, she had a rare form of breast cancer and gave her little time she had left to help others, letting the hospital photograph her and examine her every two weeks....for what !!!
"Disgusting."
