I had been unwell and seen on a Sunday at ward 36 by the team and given a card to call them if my symptoms changed or got worse. In the early hours of the Tuesday morning I was rigoring and had a temperature, when my husband called the ward the nurse who took the call was great with him and contacted a doctor and asked us to come straight to the ward. Upon arrival, we were seen straight way. My observations were checked, and things moved very quickly from there being seen by the doctor and started on fluids, oxygen, and antibiotics and receiving a scan.
I can not say how grateful I am for the entire team who looked after me. The nursing staff have such care and compassion for their patients and watching them work as a team was a privilege to see, the student nurses working alongside them also need to be mentioned all of whom showed that they will make great additions to the nursing profession once qualified. One nursing student in particular Piotr was there with his mentor the night I was admitted and I'm not sure I would have remained as calm as a student as he did after taking my first set of observations.
The healthcare staff thank you for everything from cheering me up to making sure I ate something and the general chats if I was alone and getting the nurses when I was in pain.
The medical staff who were there during my treatment for sepsis and also helped me to get a handle on the pain I was experiencing and guiding me and my husband through the outcomes of the scans. I will forever be grateful that the team at 36 looked after me during this time and the support they showed to me and my husband during my stay for sepsis. I have since had news that I will be undergoing a major surgery shortly due to the outcomes of scans and any apprehension I may have about it is also relieved by the fact that my care may once again be with the team in 36.Thank you to the whole team again.
"Thank you to the whole team again"
