"Care of my mum"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ayrshire Doctor on Call (ADOC) Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My mum is in a nursing home whom the head nurse had become very concerned about her condition. She called OOH service who were extremely busy at the time.

Paramedics were called, who examined mum thoroughly and called OOH, again with clinical information, and it was decided a Dr would call in person and make a judgement on whether mum needed to go to hospital.

Sure enough within the hour Dr Pringle arrived and introduced herself and proceeded to give mum a thorough examination again. She concluded there was some sort of infection going on and felt the best idea would be to send mum to CAU at XH. She made a call to CAU and for an ambulance as mum is bedbound.

My whole point of this review is to thank the paramedic team who treated mum with care and dignity but also Dr Pringle who gave mum the best care whilst keeping me informed of her thoughts. I really thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mum is currently in CAU receiving wonderful care.

At a time when people are so quick to bash our beloved NHS, I wanted to say thank you to everyone involved. Mum was very poorly, but since commencing treatment is rallying round and a bit brighter. Thank you to you all you do a wonderful job.

Hi KarenT21,

I'm really sorry to hear your mum was so poorly recently and I hope she's doing a bit better now.

I just wanted to thank you for the lovely message. It always means a lot to our staff when patients and their families take the time to reach out and share their experience and say thank you. They will really appreciate your positive feedback and really kind words. It's great to hear that your mum was treated with dignity and so well taken care of.

Please pass on our best wishes to your mother.

Thanks again,

Mark

Dear KarenT21

I would like to add my thanks to those of my colleague, Mark, in the Scottish Ambulance Service, for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided by the staff in the Combined Assessment Unit within University Hospital Crosshouse following your mum’s recent admission.

I am sure this must have been an anxious time for you, and I am delighted to hear that your mum received such prompt, professional and compassionate care, from our staff.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and their relatives it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Team in the Department.

I do hope your mum is feeling better now and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
