"Waiting time"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

Mum was assessed at home. Surgical ward at WGH called & accepted mum. Ambulance called and arrived approx hour later.

Sat in Ambulance for 6.5 hours, an 80 year old lady with cancer! Waiting on a bed in A&E to get bloods taken. The Ambulance crew could have taken bloods & sent to lab instead of then having to get them done in A&E & wait on results. The process could be so much quicker if streamlined. Common sense to do this in Ambulance!

Absolutely shocking length of time an elderly patient was left to wait in Ambulance. Felt like we were outside the hospital & forgotten about!

Hi SFA,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and I'm sorry to hear your mum experienced such a long wait at UHW.

Unfortunately, our services are under extreme pressures at the moment and our staff are working as quickly and safely as possible to see and treat patients. This will of course not help with an the frustrating waiting time.

If possible could you send your concerns to our Patient Affairs team using the following contact email address;

patientaffairs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Kind Regards,

Craig
