Dealing with my weed habit felt like a long, twisting road, and the thought of stopping after so long definitely made me feel anxious. Luckily the counselling support I found through Marios gave me some really helpful and practical advice, including the suggestion to establish a consistent morning routine to set a positive tone for the day.
It wasn't always easy, but I've managed to get over that first fear of not having weed for a few days, would often focus on getting through things hour by hour, especially in the beginning. Now I'm enjoying being able to take breaks from it for a good while. This habit had also caused me to feel depressed for a long time and made my money situation worse. Now that I'm taking breaks, I feel better in myself and my finances are improving.
Going to all my counselling appointments has really helped me make this progress, and the advice to build a morning routine and take things one hour at a time has been a key part of managing cravings and staying on track.
Having hobbies and being a member of a club helps, been doing martial arts for a few years and exercise is a game changer and free on most parts. It's also made me understand more about what people going through addiction face, and how important those small, manageable steps can be.
Stay strong and keep moving forward, don't feel afraid to seek help even though you can't see it there's light at the end of the tunnel.
