I fell at home late Feb 2025 and found that I had broken my arm after being taken in an ambulance to A&E Winchester. On my 2nd visit to the fracture clinic I was told that the bone was mended, to dispense with the sling and that I would get a follow-up phone call in a month’s time. Meanwhile I was having to sleep in an armchair downstairs every night as I was unable to get out of bed during the night and so was constantly disturbing my husband to help me. He was also sleeping downstairs to keep a check on me.
As a result of sleeping in the chair every night my neck got really stiff and painful and my husband took me back to A&E at Winchester.
The team there put me in touch with the Frailty team. I have since had 3 home visits and an assessment of my needs within the home. I also received guidance on how to get in and out of bed and a bed support device to help me. I’ve had advice on exercise.
I am so relieved and want to express my thanks and gratitude to Stuart and the Frailty team for all their care and support. I am not completely recovered but I feel that things are moving in the right direction.
I’m having ongoing physio for my arm and I now await to hear from the physio for my neck problem.
"The excellent aftercare I have received"
