"Unhelpful practice and promoting misuse of NHS…"

About: Two Rivers Medical Centre

I'm very disappointed and deeply concerned with the way this GP practice handled a recent request for care. My brother, a student currently back home, tried to make an appointment for symptoms that may indicate diabetes. Instead of registering him temporarily as is allowed under NHS guidelines, the reception staff advised him to call 111 — and specifically told him to do it at 10 in the morning.

This kind of response feels like the practice is avoiding providing care and offloading patients onto already stretched services. It's deeply concerning when a practice chooses not to follow standard procedures that exist to make healthcare accessible — especially for conditions that require early diagnosis and management.

The NHS is meant to be about accessible, responsible care — not turning people away or pushing them elsewhere without due consideration.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are sincerely sorry that you have had a bad experience. We are keen to continue to improve our service and so we would encourage you to follow our complaints procedure rather than this website. It is very difficult for us to investigate and respond to issues raised on NHS Choices in depth because of anonymity and word limits. If your complaint is something that you’d like us to follow up then please feel free to contact me at the practice. Debbie Lambe
