We're really struggling to get anywhere with treatment for our young adult daughter who has learning disabilities, autism, adhd and is severely depressed. She was in hospital last year to diagnose if she had a psychotic illness. Ever since psychosis had been excluded, the psychiatrist and the service in general have been disinterested, dismissive of our opinion and we seem to have not moved forward in our battle to give our daughter some sort of live.
2 years ago our daughter was ....
•Going to Enable day group Monday and Friday
•Going to Enable youth group Tuesday
•Going to Enable night club monthly
•Able to come on holidays with us
•Reasonable appetite, albeit extremely fussy
•Reasonable personal hygiene
•Reasonably content, albeit requiring significant support
Now she :
•Goes to no day groups and has refused to do so
•Cannot travel or go on any holidays with us
•Poor appetite and underweight
•Very poor personal hygiene including constant bed wetting
•Largely depressed and discontented 99% of the time.
We have followed the clinical suggestions throughout our daughter's treatment including a quite traumatic month for all in in-patient care. The conclusion of the in-patient care excluded the existence of psychotic illness but didn’t really conclude anything regarding why daughter has declined to such an extent over the last 2 years.
We have also put forward suggestions including instigating combinations of health anxiety, ADHD and OCD but if we’re completely honest we feel these have largely been dismissed. Our daughter has also said to us she doesn’t feel listened to.
We just don't know what to do as we are seeing our daughter decline day by day and the psychiatrist and the so called integrated service (couldn't be less integrated if it tried) is failing our daughter. She was also seeing a psychologist who wasn't replaced. There seems to be no structure whatsoever around the service and her treatment.
