"The staff were fantastic"

About: Bridgwater Community Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage son found himself with a barbed fishing needle in the back of his leg after he sat on it on a fishing trip.

We attended Bridgwater A&E to find them trialling a new system meaning acute injuries were being dealt with much quicker.

We were seen within 10 minutes and the offending needle was removed straight away.

The staff (Hayley/Gav and Nurse) were fantastic.

We were anticipating a long wait, but the system under trial saw us being dealt with directly, meaning we were in out very quickly.

Thank you for your kind comments - I'm pleased your son was treated promptly. I will pass your message onto the team that treated him. I hope he is now back enjoying fishing, albeit more cautious with casting off techniques.

Kind regards

Mike Paynter, consultant nurse in urgent care
