"Overall it was a good experience"

About: Outpatients Department / Bariatric Surgery, GI, HPB, Vascular General Surgery

(as the patient),

Attended 6 group sessions for Bariatric weight loss surgery support in OPD. All the staff treated me with dignity and respect and were always kind and caring at every visit. The department was always clean and well organised. They were punctual and the group always started and ended within the time advised on my letter.

The seminar room was a bit warm at times and it was difficult to hear when the windows were open due to the people who were standing right outside and talking very loudly ( think they were smoking as well). The only other complaint was the chairs were very uncomfortable for a 2 and half hour session and not the best for posture.

However overall it was a good experience and I look forward to attending more appointments with the bariatric team and to eventually get my surgery.

Thank you for your feedback, I am pleased to hear that overall you had a positive experience and I appreciate the concerns that you have raised about the heating, chairs and noise level.

We do try to move people on from the outside of our immediate area but it is also a drop off and pick up point to the hospital, if the windows are open in that room it can be noisy. The room does have air-conditioning but with our recent run of unexpected warm weather opening windows to try and make the room more comfortable clearly had a trade off with external noises.

The room being used is under the University of Edinburgh within the RIE and the Bariatric service book this room from them for their clinic use, therefore, any seating replacement/arrangements would be through discussions between them. I have highlighted your feedback to the Bariatric team for them to consider whether to discuss any alternative seating options with the University team.

Thank you once again for your feedback.
