I had my second baby in February and the care I received from QEUH and the community midwives was absolutely fantastic. Especially compared to how I was treated by NHS Highland during the same pregnancy.
All the midwives on ward were so nice and made me feel cared for, staff on labour ward were brilliant too. I can't remember everyone but Laura on antenatal ward was especially great and Tamara on labour ward.
I moved my care from NHS Highland to GGC after feeling like I had no choice but to go back to Glasgow to deliver due to the standard of care I'd received between Raigmore and the Caithness Community Midwife Unit.
I saw a midwife, at 39wks and consultant at 39wk3. I had a previous high risk pregnancy and severe mental health problems and that was the first time I saw a consultant in person because I was not able to see an OB consultants at Caithness. Why do the OB consultants not come to Caithness?
It's bad when I can say waiting 2 hours for an appointment is still better care than I received from NHS Highland who left a suicidal pregnant women alone and suffering. When I told the team leader in Caithness I felt like I didn't even want to be pregnant anymore I was told that pregnancy is supposed to be a happy time.
I went down to Raigmore at 16wks to see a consultant, instead I saw a registrar who did not tell me the truth about things and student I did not consent to remaining in the room.
It was like night and day being cared for in Glasgow and Caithness and I can't thank the staff in QEUH enough.
