"You all made it a special time"

We were due to be induced with Craigavon however due to high level of demands on the hospital were cancelled and referred to Daisy Hill. Aine contacted me to book me in later that day and understood how anxious i was about the birth, unexpectedly Aine called me the next morning first thing the next morning offering an earlier space due to a change in their schedule. 

From we walked into Daisy Hill all the midwives and the doctors explained what would be happening and kept us up to date at each stage. 

When it was time for us to go to the Delivery suite, we were assigned to Ruth, who from the very beginning had a massive smile on her face and made us feel very relaxed. At each stage of process Ruth explained what, why, and how she was doing what she was doing and very much interacted with us while doing her job.

She made us feel comfortable and made the start of a long journey very enjoyable, on her shift change she passed us to Jacqui who was very much attentive to us and a massive support to us both while we laboured, however our journey didn’t go the way we expected and we had to be prepped for a c-section. Jacqui stayed with us for every stage supporting us further, the Doctor was amazing explaining what she was going to do, just like she did when she assessed me earlier in the morning. All the theatre staff worked as a team, explaining everything that would happen or that could happen, leaving no room for error or questions from us. They made us feel calm and comfortable to be putting our trust in them to delivery our daughter safely and to take care of me. 

We couldn’t express how grateful we are to the full team on the 5 star care they provided us. 

Our story didn’t end there as with any operation, things can go wrong and I had a few complications which meant we were in recovery for the longer than expected with Ruth coming back on shift and taking over our care. 

Over the following 12 hours Ruth went above and beyond for us making the whole experience of reality worry and stress free.

As a midwife, Ruth very much advocates for her patients, she treated us with respect and made a difficult time, a positive atmosphere to be in. Nothing was too much bother, and Ruth deserves more than just our words of gratitude for her amazing care.
