I had a heart bypass surgery in Oxford in December. After a few days there was issue and I had to be opened up again and a vac pump was attached to the wound.
I was discharged on Christmas Day and the district nurses took over dressing the wound and reattaching the vac pump. This continued for a number of weeks until it was decided it was no longer needed. I then started to get an infection with the wound over granulating. I was given four different antibiotics at different times but they did not make any difference...
I have been admitted to Bournemouth and Oxford hospitals on four occasions and on the last occasion it was decided to cut the infection out and apply the vac pump again to draw the wound back in.
During this time the community nurses have helped considerably, recently helping to train my GP nurses so that they could carry on with the dressings. I would like to thank everyone that have helped me on my journey. The nurses and doctors at Bournemouth, my consultant Mr Walcott at Oxford hospital, the nurses there, and Kay my wound nurse as well as my GP Dr Staunton and all the nurses at my GP surgery for putting up with me and providing me with wonderful care. Thank you. x
