"Childhood immunisations"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had initially gone to the GP for his planned vaccinations but was too anxious to go ahead.  Anne, the nurse, made separate arrangements with the support of her colleague to do them in a different clinical setting so that it was less anxiety provoking.  They did a brilliant job of planning the appointment to keep him at ease, distracted and help it go as smoothly as possible.

Dear Nikkiw88

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your son's recent health care experience with us via Care Opinion.

I am sorry to hear that your son had some anxiety around having his immunisations carried out. However, I am delighted to hear that staff were able to make separate arrangements to have these done in a different setting, thus alleviating some of your son's anxieties and making him feel more at ease. This is a lovely example of the person centred care we strive to deliver.

I respond on behalf of Primary Care and it would be my pleasure to ensure your lovely feedback is shared with Nurse Anne and her colleague. To do this, please can you send an email to HSCPAdmin@east-ayrshire.gov.uk (marked for the attention of Primary Care) providing your details and the name of the GP Practice your son is registered with. I will then ensure this is passed on to the relevant staff members.

Thank you once again for sharing your positive feedback with us

Kind regards

Danielle
