"Staff reassured my daughter"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

I can’t praise the day surgery unit enough after my daughter had 3 teeth out under GA. She was incredibly nervous being autistic so when I explained this she was invited in to look about and meet staff. Met with Claire and Dr Cowan who totally reassured her.

Special thanks to a student nurse UWS called Maureen- she was so lovely and kind and will make an excellent nurse.

Surgery went well and this was only because of the staff reassuring my daughter constantly and the precision of Dr Walker. The nurses in theatre were amazing and I thank them I was allowed in to hold my daughter's hand before her GA. Totally loved her favourite cuddly toy coming back from theatre sporting a plaster, surgical knickers and a cannula .

Thank goodness for the NHS

Dear Elawy,

Thank you for sharing such a lovely story. It sounds like your daughter was looked after exceptionally well.

We will pass on your kind words to the staff.

Hopefully your daughter is recovering well from her surgery.

Kind regards,

Christine
