"I really enjoyed the safe space"

About: Thurrock Services / Inclusion Thurrock Psychological Therapies Service

(as a service user),

Had therapy sessions regarding a multitude of things. Honestly my mind is really frazzled at the moment but I really enjoyed the safe space in those sessions and the ability to just be who I am for a brief time each week. Always felt bittersweet coming up to therapy because whilst it was lovely to get that brief time of being myself it was always overlooked by the before and the after, thrown straight back into the chaos of everything. But the brief space which went by far too quickly was nice. It's come to an end now which sucks and I haven't had the time to process it fully, I don't think I have even processed that I had therapy in the first place to be honest. Completely disconnected, it's mad. Enjoyed the space sad it gone once again.

Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your experience so openly. It’s completely understandable to feel disconnected during the process especially when life around you remains chaotic.
It sounds like the sessions gave you a rare and important space where you could just be yourself, even if only briefly each week. That kind of space can make a real difference, even when everything else feels overwhelming.
I’m glad to hear you felt safe and supported during your time in therapy. I will pass this on to the team.

Taking notes or having handouts from sessions can be helpful to process what you learn in the sessions. Do you have any from your therapy that you can read and remind yourself of what you covered in sessions? In addition, Recovery College provide different courses to help with people around their wellbeing (Recovery, a journey of discovery... - Recovery College). Please take a look and consider if you would like to refer yourself for further information.

I hope this helps.

Take care,
