"It felt like he genuinely cared about my well-being"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Chronic Pain Management Clinic

(as a service user),

I attended Chronic Pain clinic, Buchanan Centre, Coatbridge once in summer 2024 & again in April 2025. It was Dr May's clinic both times.

On my first visit I was really struggling with chronic pain, and desperate for some help. Dr May, and the chaperone nurse were very empathetic and understanding - I got quite emotional on my first visit. I felt heard, and that mattered a great deal as my mental health had also suffered because I'd been living with chronic pain for so long.

I was offered some advice and guidance on what might work best for me. I took Dr May's advice so that by my second visit last month (Apr 2025), I was mentally more resilient and better able to manage life with constant pain.

It felt like he genuinely cared about my well-being.
