"Their caring and positivity is outstanding"

(as the patient),

In September 24 I had a stroke and spent 3 months in Stepping Hill Hospital. The stroke affected my whole right hand side my speech and bodily functions

The hospital staff were excellent and when I was discharged in December I had started my recovery and was able to walk slowly with a 4 prong stick and talk.

On arrival at home I was put in the care of Georgia, physio, and Hannah, OT. I have physio with Georgia twice a week, and Hannah comes weekly. Their help to get me where I am today has been invaluable. They never give up constantly setting me goals and driving me forwards. I can now walk unaided, not far, but it is improving each week. I now use a single stick and have recently bought a Nordic walking stick. Georgia has given me the confidence to walk outside on uneven ground down to the bottom of our road and back. I usually need a nap afterwards!! Hannah had helped me with tips on getting dressed, we made a chilli together in the slow cooker, and exercises for my arm.

Through Georgia and Hannah I met Julie, an upper limb specialist, and I now attend weekly classes with others who have upper limb issues. I have the confidence to have the Stockport Car scheme to assist with my pick up and drop off each week, making me more independent. My recovery would not be the same without the expertise of Georgia and Hannah and I look forward to their visits and my continued improvements. Their caring and positivity is outstanding.
