On the day of a big storm I went outdoors to investigate how much damage was done to my roof from an embankment at the rear end of my garden. On the way back down l slipped and broke my ankle.
l was took by ambulance to the Royal Alexander in Paisley, where l had surgery. l needed a metal plate and 11 pins to fix it. l am grateful to the skill of the surgical team and nurses for all what they did for me that day.
When l got out of hospital I was cared for by the team of Gourock district nurses who attended me at my home to change my wound dressings twice a week. Their care and compassion was second to none and I am extremely grateful to them and the NHS.
l am now back to full health and fitness and grateful to all those in our amazing NHS.
