I wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to my GP for what she did for me on the 25th September 2023.
I was seen by her in a f2f appointment following an online triage form that I had completed for chest pains on the Friday before. She asked me what had happened and listened intently as I explained to her as accurately as I could remember. She asked to check if I was feeling ok at the time as she said she was going to send a referral to Rapid Response at New Cross Hospital. The following day she called me to say that the referral was rejected and that I would need to go to A&E Manor instead. Sounding disappointed with the rejection from New Cross, she kindly drafted a referral letter for me to print and take to A&E Manor Hospital straight away which I did. I spent a whole day there and following a lot of checks they found nothing wrong and I was referred back to her. Not content with the outcome she called me again informing me that she was going to resend the referral back to New Cross hospital again. Her persistence paid off as I received an appointment soon after to see a Cardiologist at New Cross hospital. After numerous scans, X-rays and tests, results showed there were severe blockages in my heart. Firstly they tried medication (which didn’t help for very long) but shortly after I was booked in for an angioplasty for stents. This was completed but no stents were put in as it was decided that a triple bypass operation was now required. This was completed a month later in March this year, 18 months after my 1 angina attack.
I want to say a very special thank you for everything she did for me, I believe she saved my life and I have utmost gratitude for her persistence and patience in listening to my diagnosis on that day, I truly believe it really could have been a different outcome if she hadn’t have believed my story and did what she did. She is an outstanding doctor and an asset to the surgery and I truly hope she gets the recognition she truly deserves. Thank you once again.
