I was admitted to au1 via out of hours late at night. When I arrived on the ward you could tell straight away that it was a very busy shift. Staff were pulling beds out of rooms to make space for people and to someone who doesn't work in healthcare, it looked stressful.
All the staff were friendly and kind, even though they never stopped. I was placed in a bay with 3 other men and some of them were moved overnight and new "neighbours " moved in. Even in the middle of the night, staff were so nice and couldn't do enough for you.
The next morning I met my nurse for the day SN Lauren who introduced herself and was always smiling and joking with patients and her colleagues who sadly ive forgotten most their names, but remember Stuart and Ellie. It was so nice and comforting to see staff happy at work and having a laugh with their patients and each other especially given how tough it is for the nhs just now. Lauren couldn't do enough for me and took the time to chat and listen which was nice and put me at ease. The staff in au1 from drs, nurses, auxiliaries and domestics what a great team, but I hope I never to see you in there again.
I was moved to another ward that same day and discharged home the following day. Great care from NHS Fife
