"Disabled parking"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

Not every disability is visible

After parking in a disabled bay displaying a MacMillan card advising of urgency to go to a toilet I came back to my car stickered

Maybe other cards can be taken into consideration as well as mobility ones

Hi Daisyrose

Firstly let me thank you for getting in touch and bringing this to our attention, unfortunately the brief Security staff receive is that these spaces are for blue badge holders only, and the blue badge must be displayed. As you can imagine we get a lot of non blue badge holders just using these spaces and making it extremely hard for people with mobility issues to get close to the hospital. However now you have brought this to our attention I will be informing Security staff to take these cards in to account for a short period of time to allow the use of toilet facilities, there are also two car park attendants at the front of the hospital that can assist if required in the future and will allow parking at the drop of area right in front of the hospital for a short period of time.

Kind regards

Andy
