After a long period of weight loss I decided to visit my GP.  Initially my GP was reluctant to refer me for any hospital tests but in the end he did give me a referral.  That referral led to a fast track service from the RCDS team.  I could not believe the speed of action from the staff at the RCDS.  My previous experience with the NHS had not been good but the RCDS was like a different service. Within a day of the referral I was contacted by a team member of the RCDS and two days later I was having a CT Scan.  What a great service.  I was cancer free but the through my blood tests I was diagnosed as coeliac.  I am now on a special diet. Thanks to the RCDS team not only for the speed of service but for the caring and professional manner in dealing with my case.

It’s heartening to hear that our service provided you with the timely, compassionate care you needed particularly following a more difficult experience in the past. Your journey highlights the real impact that joined-up, responsive systems can have, not just in ruling out cancer, but in uncovering other important diagnosis like coeliac disease.
