"Cancer diagnosis"

About: Causeway Hospital / Surgical 2

(as a service user),

I was diagnosed with a tumour in my bowel at the end of March and operated on  early May in Causeway hospital. With having a young family and being in my early forties I naturally felt scared for them, the unknown if it had spread, the impact on my wider family and how it would practically and financially impact our lives.

However, the care I received from my first GP appointment to my operation was extremely reassuring as I always felt my condition was being treated seriously and quickly. This helped so much and difficult to put into words how ‘safe’ this made me feel personally.

Good Evening John Smith 1407

My name is Deborah Dyson I am the ward Sr in Surgical 2. Thankyou for taking the time to share your experience whilst on the ward.

Coming into hospital for surgery is a very scary and daunting experience. It is so important to ensure that the experience is supportive and caring.

I am happy to read that you felt safe in what was a very emotional and scary time.

As a team we are here for all our patients to help them through all experiences.

I will share your kind words with the whole team.

If you require any support we are here for you

Debbie
