"Having a Caesarian"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Maternity

(as the patient),

Surgical team were amazing and couldn’t rate them more highly. Felt safe and supported throughout.

Aftercare on the ward was very mixed depending on who was on shift. It was very difficult to get pain relief and often waited hours whilst in a lot of pain and therefore unable to feed and care for my baby properly.

There was a feeding assistant called Zoe who was absolutely fantastic and is the reason why we are currently doing well with breastfeeding. I would like to highlight how much she cared and she is a real asset to the team.

Dear falconeh37

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're so pleased to hear that you felt safe and supported by the surgical team – your kind words mean a great deal and will be shared with them.

We're also incredibly grateful for your recognition of Zoe, our maternity support worker. We’re delighted to hear the positive impact she had on your breastfeeding journey, and we have shared your lovely feedback with her and her line managers. She truly is a valued member of our team.

We’re sorry to hear that your experience on the ward was mixed, particularly regarding the delays in pain relief. This is not the standard of care we strive to provide, and your comments have been shared with the relevant teams so we can look into this further and improve where needed. If you would like me to investigate further please send an email to joanna.black@nhs.net quoting falconeh37.

Thank you again for your feedback — it helps us to recognise what we’re doing well and where we need to do better.

Best wishes

Jo
