Our daughter was born at Forth Valley Hospital and we could not have asked for better care.
After a traumatic delivery of her sister 18 months earlier (at a different hospital), we were nervous about how this experience would be. We were very keen for a calm birth environment & the midwives went over and above to make sure we were able to have the birth that we dreamed of.
It was obvious from when we arrived at the hospital that the midwife had already read our birth plan and was advocating for us from the second we walked through the doors. Although we were previously told we probably wouldn’t be eligible for the midwife lead unit, the midwife was able to request this for us & to our delight we were able to have a natural birth in the AMU.
Not only did we feel safe at all times, the midwife was constantly reassuring and knew exactly what I needed (even when I didn’t!). The great care extended to the post natal ward where we were looked for the night before heading home the next day. Every member of staff we saw was caring, professional and kind. As second time parents, we were expecting to be left to our own devices, but the team were attentive and knew when we needed some reassurance. The care we received during and after birth has changed our post-partum experience for the better. It has healed the anxieties from our first labour and I could not thank the team more for that.
"Attentive and knew when we needed some reassurance"
