I recently had a procedure at Altnagelvin Hospital, firstly I was told to go to Ward 43 but was subsequently sent to the D.E.S.U at ward 7.
From start to finished my treatment was excellent.
The staff were both considerate and caring and engaging. Special mention to Richard the anaesthetist who helped make my procedure as comfortable as possible. And the nurse who inserted the canula on the back of my hand was both competent and gentle and left no bruising in her wake.
All in all I had a 10/10 visit.
I have also wrote a poem which I penned after my procedure. Enjoy:
Early Morning Field Trip.
I crossed the New Bridge early morning
To the hospital where I was bound
Fingers crossed the consultant will deal with
The two lump on my body found.
I parked made my way to ward 43
but there without further ado
I was quickly dispatched to floor seven
to have my op in the D.E.S.U.
Now the staff in this ward were amazing
and my consultant she was a gem
but nothing prepared me for Richard
the proverbial giant among men.
He offered me something amazing
to he me cope with the pain
he called it a 'wee gin and tonic'
and you bet I didn't complain.
The care I received was fantastic
and my lumps well I left them behind
so many thanks to the staff and to Richard
a big hug for being so kind.
