I started with travel anxiety a few years ago, mainly aeroplanes and driving on motorways. I finally had enough so contacted my doctors who refered me.
The person i was assigned to has helped me massively, always encouraging me to go out in the car (i dont drive so as a passanger) reassuring me that yes accidents do happen but its not something that i can control and its rare. I started by going out in the car more, then tried to do more dual carrageways, i even went to cleethorpes with my partner which he drove on all the A roads and even though in my head i was panicing for the journey i was suprisingly very calm on the journey.
She was really supportive and listened to everything i said. I havent made it onto motorways or an aeroplane just yet, but im in such a better head space about it all then when i first started. Most of my anxieties are all in my head, but getting the balance is hard and something im getting better with. I was offered more sessions or to end therapy if i was happy with everything. I ended the therapy, not because im 'cured' or im where i need to be but because i believe that ive come such a long way since i started this and i believe that i have the strength and the support around me to continue on my own and smash my journey.
I was told that in future if i needed to i could come back to the talking therapies, but hopefully with the help ive received i will overcome this. The therapy has been a massive help to me and i couldnt be more thankful to my lady for helping me.
"It has been a massive help to me"
