I was experiencing symptoms of pain and swelling under one eye. I initially consulted a pharmacist who recommended antihistamines, suspecting an allergic reaction. A call to a GP surgery resulted in the confirmation that I should proceed with the therapy the pharmacist suggested for three days, and if the symptoms persist, I should call the Eye Care service.
There was a long queue when I finally called them, bit the callback worked well. They collected a lot of information on the initial triaging callback, booked me in for a call with a doctor and asked me to send a few pictures of the affected area. The process of sending pictures was clear and easy. The doctor called within the booked timeslot with an already suspected diagnosis based on the history collected on the initial call and the images sent. She asked a few additional questions, responded to my concerns and sounded very knowledgeable, helpful and kind. This is the best experience I had with any of the NHS services I used so far.
