"Physiotherapy in Royal Victoria"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Respiratory medicine (5F and 7CCB)

(as a relative),

My mother was in the royal victoria belfast, which despite its reputation in the news recently for waiting lists and lack of caring - i whole heartedly find hard to believe.

My mother was seen in ED and brought to the ward on 7C, she was very confused on arrival and as a family we were very distressed and concerned that she would be bounced out and into a nursing home of some sort,

Mark as our family feels, put us first entirely, he got down to our level and brought what felt like a very fast and loud environment to a very personal place for us and gave us the options which suited our mother the best.

Thanks to Mark and the team of occupational therapists for all of their help, thanks to them they got our mother to our own home instead of a nursing home, with therapists calling out to us at home to get her back on her feet. As a healthcare worker myself i can completely understand the pressures of waiting lists especially at the minute.

We had a fantastic experience with the royal victoria hospital, and hope that other appreciate the care that this team can out into their patients. A great example of the trust values.

Annxb43,

Great to hear the good ending to your mum's journey after ED. Physios and OTs do an amazing job! I hope Mum's making steady progress.

Hi Annxb43

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly heartened to hear that your mother received such compassionate and person-centred care during her time at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Your kind words about Mark and the Occupational Therapy team will mean a great deal to them.

It’s especially meaningful to hear this from a fellow healthcare professional, and we’re glad your mother was supported to return home with the right care in place. Wishing her continued recovery and strength.

Warm regards,
Julie Bray

Occupational Therapy Service Improvement and Governance Lead
