I gave birth at UCLH and although my baby arrived safely, my experience was traumatic. My partner’s mum travelled far but was denied a visit, even while students were allowed to observe. When my partner tried to bring her in, staff physically blocked him and called security, then banned him from returning — leaving me unsupported.
After that, the energy changed. Staff were rude, slammed doors, and dismissed my mum. A midwife with no introduction was sent in, which felt like racial profiling. Worse, there were hygiene issues: machines and the birthing ball had visible blood. I felt unsafe and discharged myself early. No aftercare was explained, and now I’m being bounced between hospitals. When I called for help, I was spoken to with attitude and denied basic support. This experience has scarred what should’ve been a joyful time. I felt judged, abandoned, and treated unfairly.
