I had a routine mammogram in Feb, and a recall for further investigation for April, where biopsies were taken.
Somehow, I just knew that the results I'd get were that I have breast cancer, and as that proved to be the case things progressed very swiftly from that point!
I had a Magseed inserted in April, pre-op, further blood tests, and Lumpectomy in May, and because I have sleep apnoea as well as other health issues, I stayed overnight.
The care from the staff throughout my journey has been nothing short of amazing!
From Miss Pareek, Claire and Myra at SW Scotland Breast Screening Centre, Irvine.
Then meeting with surgeon Ms Reid, anaesthetist Dr Jacobs, nurses Megan & Heather in theatre on the day.
The lovely, bubbly nurse Hannah in post-op recovery, who makes the most wonderful buttered toast and keeps you in fine fettle; the lovely nurse Tracey who escorted me to the loo and back and kept checking in on me; Annette & Barbara the fab nurses on night shift in Day Surgery Recovery, who I can honestly say couldn't possibly do any more for their patients, and Lindsay and Claire on day shift before I went home.
A lovely lady called Vicky phoned me to see how I'm doing, and her telephone manner was second to none!
Honestly, everything went like clockwork, and I'll be eternally grateful for all the care I've been given before, during and after my surgery. I will never, ever, be able to thank everyone at University Hospital, Crosshouse in Kilmarnock, enough! I'll never forget your many kindnesses!
