This last few weeks I’ve got to experience care in the Day Obstetrics Unit in the Royal Maternity Hospital and what a privilege it’s been. This is my first baby and the pregnancy has been going well up until the last few weeks where there’s been some mild issues with my blood pressure. The midwives and nurses on the DOU have made me feel the most looked after compared to at any other appointment during this pregnancy. Every member of staff I’ve interacted with has been warm, knowledgeable and comforting at every visit especially when I’ve been stressed (Heidi). When getting a blood pressure series, you’re not allowed on your phone and have to stay relaxed - during this time you can’t help but to overhear what’s going on beyond the curtain and it was lovely hearing how well the staff got on with one another and the level of respect each of them had for their peers, seniors and the student midwives (Rebekah) I interacted with also. This unit seems to genuinely care about the wellbeing of their patients and whatever way it’s being run is really working for them! Thank you
